QEA Tech Launches Japan Projects in Collaboration with Drone Frontier

Tokyo National Museum Buildings and Garden

QEA Tech is excited to announce that it has officially launched its operations in Japan, beginning with a precise, data-driven building envelope audit for the Tokyo National Museum in collaboration with Drone Frontier. This project marks a significant milestone as QEA Tech brings its patented AI-powered technology to one of Japan’s most iconic institutions.

Leveraging patented AI software, drones, and thermography, QEA Tech’s proprietary approach quantifies energy loss and forecasted savings for the entire building envelope, pinpoints building envelope issues down to centimeters, and delivers tailored retrofit action plans focused on maximizing energy savings and return on investment. Since 2019, QEA Tech has audited over 800 building envelopes across North America, Europe, and Asia, serving a broad range of commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional facilities. Drone Frontier is a leading drone solutions company in Japan, with expertise in conducting infrared building inspections, roof inspections and measurements, and indoor inspections.

The Tokyo National Museum was interested in working with QEA Tech to gain detailed insights on energy savings opportunities across the building envelope. The Museum chose to work with QEA Tech as it provided an innovative, efficient, and scalable solution unavailable locally. This cutting-edge project consisted of QEA Tech and Drone Frontier using industrial drones to capture thousands of high-quality infrared and visual images of the museum’s building envelope, having prepared diligently beforehand to ensure that local laws and regulations were followed.

As the museum has preserved ancient arts and artifacts for over 150 years, it was essential that QEA Tech and Drone Frontier collected building envelope data in a non-intrusive manner, preserving the integrity of the historic structure. The data collected was then analyzed by QEA Tech’s patented AI software and team of building science specialists, resulting in detailed reports outlining energy loss and potential savings throughout the building envelope and a customized retrofit action plan.

This initiative underscores QEA Tech’s commitment to leveraging its technology to drive sustainability in the built environment on a global scale. QEA Tech looks forward to continuing its work with Drone Frontier to conduct building envelope audits across Japan’s rich buildings landscape. By providing data-driven solutions to improve energy efficiency, QEA Tech and Drone Frontier aim to accelerate the decarbonization of buildings and support Japan’s commitment to reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.

“QEA Tech is excited to expand our solutions to Japan’s diverse built environment. Driving resiliency through smart, actionable building envelope retrofits is at the core of QEA Tech’s mission, and we look forward to working with Drone Frontier to support Japanese building owners in achieving important sustainability goals.” – Peyvand Melati, CEO of QEA Tech
